A group of adolescent cricketers played an entertaining and high-voltage match teaming up with past and present cricket legends of the country yesterday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital.. The 10-over-aside match was organised to mark the World Children’s Day on November 20, according to a press release.
As a part of this initiative, UNICEF Bangladesh in collaboration with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged a friendly cricket match where disadvantaged children and adolescents from UNICEF’s partner NGOs Brac, Aporajayo Bangla and Shurovi participated in this thrilling cricket encounter amid the cheers of few thousand child spectators in the stands of the national cricket stadium.
Former Bangladesh national cricket team captain Habibul Bashar, former Bangladesh opening batsman Hannan Sarkar, current national player Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh women’s team member Suraiya Azmin, among others played in this friendly cricket match while a group of adolescent boys and girls took part in both the teams.
