The fourth edition of the three-day mega folk music event titled ‘Dhaka International Folk Festival 2018’ has begun at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital yesterday. The music aficionados from all walks of life, along with a remarkable number of young audiences, gathered at the venue with the expectation of enjoying the fascinating performances by the music maestros from seven countries. The festival began with a dance performance by the artistes of the dance troupe Bhabna Nrityadal from Bangladesh.

Then baul singer Abdul Hai Dewan with his team mesmerised the audience with the local folk songs ‘Mago Ma, Jhilo Jhi’, ‘Doyal Tomaro Lagiya Jogini’ and others. At the time of writing this report, internationally-acclaimed music band Dikanda from Poland was performing on the stage.

The rest of the performers on the opening night included Wadali Brothers and Satyaki Banerjee from India.

This year, 147 artistes from seven countries are scheduled to perform in the fourth edition of the three-day festival. Organised by Sun Events, the mega event will take place every day from 6pm to 12 midnight, until November 17.  The title sponsor of the Dhaka international Folk Fest 2018 is Meril, the event is powered by Dhaka Bank Limited.
