Miraj's fifth Test fifer
Spin all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraj showcased his worth with ball after his batting display in the face-saving second Test victory against Zimbabwe. Bangladesh won the Test by 218 runs that squared the series 1-1.
Miraj initiated his preying with old-guard Hamilton Masakadza and completed his fifer removing the Zimbabwean last batsman Kyle Jarvis. This was his fifth five-for in his 16-Test career. The 21-year-old all-rounder earlier chalked up five-wicket haul or more against England (three times) and West Indies (one).
Taylor's credible both innings century
Zimbabwean experienced batsman Brandon Taylor clattered an unbeaten 106 in second innings after his first innings 110 in Mirpur. But he didn't save the team from the losing blushes. The right-handed batsman accomplished the feat as the third Zimbabwe batsman after Grand Flower and Andy Flower. But he is ahead of the Flower brothers as he slammed twice the feat. Consequentially, he did it against Bangladesh. So far, the instance has been done in 83 times in Test history what was first made by Australian batsman Warren Bardsley in 1906 against England. Of them, Mominul Haque among Bangladesh batsmen has a rare feat what he did as the last batman before Taylor's achievement.
Kumar Sangakkara made twice against Bangladesh in Galle and Chattogram in 2013 and 2014 before Taylor.
Taijul's misses record chance
Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam had a possibility of stepping into world history if he could pick up five wickets or more, he would then be record holder. Finally he missed to set the record bagging 18 wickets in two-match Test series.
But he had also chance to break the Bangladesh record what Mehidy Hasan Miraj did. Miraj took 19 wickets in two-Test series against England in 2016 to set the Bangladesh record. Taijul got one wicket less than Miraj. As a result, Taijul missed both opportunities in this series against the southern African nation.
Khaled's regret for maiden Test wicket
Fast bowler Syed Khaled Ahmed like Ariful Haque missed to get wicket or wickets on debut Test.
But Khaled had produced three chances to get his maiden Test wicket but fielders spilled on three occasions. Ariful Haque first dropped the catch at second slip on the day second in Dhaka Test. As a result, the wait for his maiden Test wicket became longer.
