Joshi lauds Taijul’s
consistent bowling

Bangladesh spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi lauded left-arm spinner Taijul Islam for his spell-binding and consistent bowling performance in the ongoing two-Test series against the visiting Zimbabwe.

Joshi said that he improved a lot after they worked together to bring his consistency and mindset of bowling in Test cricket

Sunil Joshi told ESPNcricinfo on the stroke of the fourth day of the second and last Test of the two-Test series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur yesterday, while Bangladesh were batting on second innings to not impose follow-on over Zimbabwe.

“It’s a great achievement for Taijul to pick back-to-back five-wicket hauls,” said Sunil Joshi.

“He has done work on the consistency and mindset of bowling in Test cricket, and he has improved immensely,” Joshi told.

“We are trying to focus on specific skills between Tests, T20s and ODIs about warming the body up,” he added.

By removing Regis Chakabva, Taijul racked up his five-wicket haul that wrapped up Zimbabwe’s first innings 304--19 runs less than their required total to avert follow-on.

With this five-wicket burst, the spinner became the third Bangladesh bowler to pick up five-for in three consecutive innings after Enamul Haque Junior and Shakib Al Hasan.

In Sylhet Test, Taijul claimed 6-108 and 5-62, the feat that could not save Bangladesh from blushes.

If he could bag another five wickets, it will be record for Bangladesh but if he could chalk up seven wickets, it will be a world record.

Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath led the standings of the two-Test series with 23 wickets what he did against Pakistan in 2014, where Herath’s best bowling figure was 9-127.

Herath’s compatriot Muttiah Muralidhara remained second with 22 wickets. The highest wicket-taker in Test earned the feat against South Africa in 2006.

India leg-spinner Anil Kumble placed third in the chart with 21 wickets.
