The 13th death anniversary of Enayetullah Khan, founding editor of The New Age and editor-in-chief of the weekly Holiday, will be observed today, says a press release.

He died of cancer in Toronto, Canada aged 66.

Beginning his career as a journalist for the then Pakistan Observer in 1959, Enayetullah went on to found weekly Holiday in August 1965 before becoming editor in 1966. He was also the editor of Bangladesh Times (1975-1977). He was awarded the Ekushey Padak for excellence in journalism.  He also served as a minister and as an ambassador to China, North Korea, Cambodia and Myanmar and was National Press Club and Dhaka Club's president. Known for his democratic activism, Enayetullah was at the forefront of the Buddhijibi Nidhan Tathyanusandhan Committee established on December 18, 1971 to investigate murders of intellectuals by the Al-Badr and Al-Shams during the 1971 Liberation War.

Born on May 25, 1939 in Mymensingh, Enayetullah Khan was the third son of the late Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan, a former speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly.
