A three-day photography exhibition titled ‘Chatuskon’ organised by Jagannath University Photographic Society (JnUPS) ended yesterday followed by an award ceremony on the premises of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in the capital. The impulse to save recorded memories is a powerful force which tells much about the role of photography in lives and constant desire to distil most precious moments into images. In this regard, Jagannath University Photographic Society (JnUPS) arranged the first season of a photo contest & exhibition for the photographers of Bangladesh, titled ‘Chotushkone- National Photography Contest & Exhibition’.
Among the 1600 submitted photographs and 15 photo stories, the jury panel comprising photographer Syed Latif Hossain and Saiful Haque Omi, selected 80 single photographs and 2 photo stories for the exhibition. The exhibition showcased 80 photographs by 56 photographers at Gallery 5, BSA. Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Mizanur Rahman inaugurated the exhibition on October 24 on the gallery premises.
The exhibition ended yesterday through an award ceremony. Vice-Chancellor Mizanur Rahman handed over the awards to the awardees Jahurul Azaz Joy (1st), Niloy Banerjee (2nd), Devraj Chakraborty (3rd) and Pranta Nayan (special award). “Jagannath University Photographic Society - JnUPS has started its operation back in 2013 and I am privileged to be a part of it since the very beginning. A national level photography exhibition was a dream which the whole team saw together a couple of years ago. ‘Chotushkone’ is the version of that dream which brought into reality by the unconditional constant effort of the whole JnUPS team”, said Ankur Roy, president of JnUPS.
