A mock drill aimed at increasing capacity of hospital for minimizing losses in case of earthquake and fire incident was held on Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital (SuMCH) premises.
Extinguishing fire, repairing leaked gas line, rescuing affected people and bringing them to hospital for treatment was held as part of the drill.
Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Save the Children and Community Participation and Development (CPD) jointly organized the programme supported by European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
Fire Service and Civil Defence conducted the drill held recently.
Doctors, nurses and other staff of SuMCH, fire service personnel and community volunteers took part in the drill.
While speaking as the chief guest at the function, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya called for raising awareness about disaster and taking pre-preparation for it.
Prof. Dr Uttam Kumar Barua, Director of SuMCH, high government officials, NGO representatives, among others, spoke at the programme.
