A man was killed and 25 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers in Shahzadpur upazila of Sirajganj yesterday.
During the clash, a shop was torched, 10 houses were vandalised and ransacked in the area. Police fired six rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.  The deceased was Ashraf Ali, 50, of Ghorshal village in the upazila.
 Police and local sources said the clash began at around 10am between the people of Ghorshal and Kamalpur villages following an altercation over possession of an ice-cream. People of the both groups attacked and chased each other with locally made lethal weapons. During the clash, Ashraf died on the spot and 25 others on both side sustained injuries.
  The injured were admitted to Shahzadpur upazila health complex, Sirajganj General Hospital and different clinics.
 Police recovered the body and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was lodged with the respective police station in this connection.
