51th convocation of DU Saturday

The 51th convocation of Dhaka University (DU) will be held on Saturday (October 6) in a befitting manner.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman will brief reporters about the convocation at Abdul Matin Virtual Classroom on the campus at 11:30 am on Thursday.

Invitations and academic costumes of the participants of the convocation will be distributed on October 3-4, a DU press release said.

Members of Senate, Syndicate and Academic Council, university teachers, principals of affiliated colleges, directors of the institutes and registered graduates have been asked to collect their invitations and costumes from respective places. Graduates have been asked to collect their certificates by returning their costumes after the convocation ceremony on October 6. Participants have to collect their invitations and costumes from Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building, the Arts Faculty, Science Cafeteria, Curzon Hall, Business Studies Faculty Building, Social Science Faculty Building, the Teacher-Student Center (TSC), Eden Mohila College and Dhaka College.

DU Social Sciences Faculty observes anniv

The Faculty of Social Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) here today observed its 48th founding anniversary amid festivity.

DU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the programmes by cutting a cake at the teachers’ lounge of social sciences faculty, said a DU press release.

DU Pro-VC Prof Muhammad Samad, Social Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Sadeka Halim, DU Treasurer Kamal Uddin, DU Teachers’ Association President Prof Dr Maksud Kamal, among others, were present on the occasion.

Since its foundation on 2 October 1970, the Faculty has expanded in size and importance to include a wide range of academic disciplines that study human culture, society and politics, and that are theoretically based and empirically well-founded.

The Faculty of social sciences is organized into 16 academic departments which are responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research.
