Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Awami League nominated candidate has been declared mayor of Barishal City Corporation unofficially yesterday afternoon.

Returning Officer Md Mujibur Rahman declared the result at his office, two-month and two-day after the election held on July 30.

He also announced reelection schedule of nine centres of 6 ward of BCC.

According to EC,  Serniabad Sadiq Abdullah received one lakh 11, 956 votes in 114 centers out of 123 while his nearest competitor BNP nominated candidate Mojibor Rahman Sorwar got 13, 776 votes. In this election total 1 lakh 39 thousand 151 votes (62 per cent) was cast.

EC has decided reelection of nine out of 30 centres which may be held on 13-15 of this month. Mentionable that voting has been postponed in 15 centres and cancelled in a centre at election day.  After that a probe committee of EC investigated the alleged irregularities in 41 centres including of those 16 centres.
