Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team will lock horns with India U-19 cricket team in the first semifinal of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur today.
The match-a day affair- will begin at 9:00am.
Bangladesh youth bounced back in the competition race with their back-to-back wins against Pakistan and Hong Kong after losing opener to Sri Lanka by six wickets. The uncertain semifinals berth of the youth Tigers simplified for them when Pakistan were trumped by Sri Lanka in their last Group-B encounter.
India on the other hand appeared in the semifinals with all-win record as they routed Nepal by 171 runs in their opener of the Group-A clash before beating UAE by 227 runs and holders Afghanistan by 51 runs. Neither Bangladesh nor India players told about their specific target around today’s (Thursday) semifinal match but both sides said that they will focus more on themselves and try to play the match by giving their best.
“We’ve nothing to think as they are now in a good rhythm,” Bangladesh captain Tawhid Hridoy said, adding that they don’t take anything in our mind what it is India or opposition or semifinal match.
Devdutt Padikkal of India said, “We have no specific target because we don’t know how Bangladesh play. We just want to play as per our ability.”
