15 selected footballers to be sent to Spain

In a bid to find out young-talented footballers, NE sports and RSP Sports Tours jointly will organise a talent hunt programme at 27 different venues across the country on January 1.

Those who have born in January 1, 2002 or later will be eligible to do registration for the programme. Abu Sayed Mohammad Rashiduzzaman, head of the programme, disclosed all at a press conference at a local restaurant in the capital yesterday.

Rashiduzzaman said that they have talked with former national footballers and district sports association regarding their programme and started the month-long registration process of the talent hunt on October 1.

He said that 50,000 could be registered for the programme from where they will finally pick 450 for the preliminary stage.

“We’ll pick up 450 young-talented footballers at our initial stage. Then, we will whittle down the squad to 100 after a training process which will be held at divisional level,” said the head of the programme.

“We’ll then arrange a month-long training programme at BKSP from where we will trim the squad further and select the 15-member final squad,” he told media.

“We’ll send them in Spain for a month for high profile training. Thereafter, we’ll nurture them for the next five years to make them prospective footballers,” he added.

Football enthusiast Rashiduzzaman, who went to Italy last year with an amateur football team to play San Marino Football Tournament, said that they have talked with Spanish football clubs to play some football matches beside the practice.

Along with that, they will also try to play Gothia Football tournament in China Football Tournament in future.
