BSMRAU VC elected ACU representative
GAZIPUR: Md Mahbubar Rahman, vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), has been elected the executive council member of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) for the term of 2015-2017, says a press release. The ACU is a charitable organisation of consist of 500 universities in 37 commonwealth countries Queen of Britain is the chief patron of ACU. The council is the overall governing body of the ACU and is collectively responsible for overseeing the Association’s activities and determining its future direction.
KUET goes on Eid vacation today
KHULNA: Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) will on a 12-day vacation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha from today to October 3, said a press release issued by public relations office yesterday. The classes and examinations of the university will remain suspended during the vacation, official sources said. However, academic and administrative activities are scheduled to be resumed on October 4 after vacation, the release added.
British Council, ULAB sign MoU
British Council and University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) on Sunday to initiate reader development activities among the students, says a press release. This agreement will allow the two organisations to run reader development activities through a ‘Book Reading Competition’ with the students of selected semesters from ULAB. Under the agreement, British Council will provide graded classic texts (on loan) to the registered students of ULAB. The texts will be included in selected foundation level courses. The registered students will also participate in the competition organised by British Council at the end of the session where successful participants will receive certificates and prizes. Moreover, British Council will also provide a ‘teaching reading workshop’ for the faculty members of the Centre for Language Studies, ULAB.
The event was attended by Imran Rahman, vice-chancellor, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh; Matt Pusey, deputy director, British Council Bangladesh; ATM Sajedul Huq, director, Centre for Language Studies, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, Md Abu Taher, acting library manager, British Council, Bangladesh.
Other members from British Council and faculty members from the Centre for Language Studies, ULAB were also present in the agreement signing ceremony.
BAU Eid vacation begins today
Mymensingh: Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) will go on a 10-day vacation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha from today. The academic and administrative activities of the university will be remain suspended during the vacation Meanwhile, classes and examination of the university will resume on October 4 after the vacation. The student dormitories will reopen on October 2, confirmed the Public Relation and Publication Office of BAU.
