KUET celebrates 15th founding anniversary

KHULNA: Students, teachers and employees of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) celebrated its 15th founding anniversary on Saturday with much fanfare and festivity on the campus. On the occasion, the university authorities have chalked out day-long programmes to celebrate the day. The day’s programme began with hoisting of national and university flags by Bangladesh University Grant Commission (UGC) member Prof M Shah Nowaz Ali as chief guest. The chief guest announced the day’s programme by releasing balloons and pigeons before the administration building. Chaired by its Vice-Chancellor Dr Kazi Sazzad Hossain, UGC member Prof M Shah Nowaz Ali and president of ‘KUET DAY’ celebration committee and Dean of Civil Engineering faculty Prof Kazi Hamidul Bary spoke, among others. Later, a colourful procession was brought out which paraded the campus streets and ended at student welfare center where a discussion was held. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Kazi Sazzad Hossain chaired the discussion while UGC member Prof Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali addressed as chief guest. The chief guest planted a tree sapling at ‘Durbar Bangla’, a sculptor in memory of Liberation War, premises at noon. On September 1, 2003 KUET was established in Rail gate area under Khanjahan Ali police station in the city. The 15th KUET anniversary day was held today as September 1 was a public holiday.

General meeting held at AIUB

The general meeting of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) for the Fall 2018-2019 semester was held in the Multipurpose Hall of AIUB campus, Kuratuli in the capital on Thursday, says a press release. Carmen Z Lamagna, vice-chancellor of AIUB, presided over the meeting. In connection with conducting Fall Semester 2018-2019, teachers were informed about the academic calendar, teaching procedures, related courses, examination and publication of result including rules and regulation of the University. Dr Carmen Z Lamagna introduced the newly appointed Chairman of AIUB’s Board of Trustees, Nadia Anwar in the meeting. Chairman of Board of Trustees, Nadia Anwar then addressed the audience and expressed her gratitude to the Board for entrusting her with the responsibilities. Dr Hasanul A Hasan, Founder and Vice President, HR and Admin addressed the faculty members in the meeting and delivered his valuable speech.

Nat’l conference on enhancing quality of higher education held

Southeast University (SEU) organised a national conference on ‘Enhancing Quality of Higher Education’ on SEU Permanent Campus at Tejgaon in the capital on Saturday, says a press release. Prof ANM Meshquat Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of SEU, presided over the inaugural and closing session. Prof Mesbahuddin Ahmed, chairman of Bangladesh Accreditation Council, inaugurated the conference as the chief guest. Prof Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, head of Quality Assurance Unit, HEQEP-UGC and M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, Representative Member of BoT, SEU Trust were the special guests. Prof Md. Akhtar Hossain, member of UGC, attended the Closing session as the chief guest and Prof Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, head, Quality Assurance Unit, HEQEP-UGC as the special guest.
