‘Digital Security Act not to gag journalists’

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Md Mashiur Rahman Ranga yesterday said that the Digital Security Act is not formulated to gag journalist community or free thinkers, reports BSS. “The Digital Security Act will not gag journalist community rather it’s formulated to punish those who spread rumors, instigate violence or make anti-state conspiracy using digital technology,” he told a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) auditorium in the capital.

‘Search News’ organised the discussion on ‘Building Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla’ with physician Dr Abu Raihan in the chair. Aysha Memorial Trust Chairman MA Chowdhury, Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad President Lion Md Gani Miah Babul, Awami League leaders Rashed Rahman, Helena Jahangir and Dr Asaduzzaman, journalist Rabbi Chowdhury and Mostafa Al Mahmud, among others, spoke on the occasion.
