The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members on Sunday night seized over 5 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets and arrested six alleged drug traders, including the mastermind from Siddirganj in Naryanganj district.The arrested were identified as ringleader Monzur Alam, Gias Uddin, Abdul Mannan, Md Selim, Md Mohiuddin and Jahangir Alam.   Talking to The Independent, RAB Additional Director General (Operation) Colonel Ziaul Ahsan said getting secret information, a team of RAB-2 led by Major Nasir Uddin Ahmed and ASP Atiqul Islam Prodhan intercepted a speedy private car when it was crossing the area at around 11:30 pm. After searching the private car, the RAB members recovered the huge amount of yaba tablets and arrested five alleged drug traders.
About the information obtained from the primary interrogation, RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Mufti Mahmod said for the long time, Monzur is involved in supplying the yaba tablets in various districts. He was bringing the consignment from Teknaf in Cox's bazar district. About the legal steps taken against the arrestees, Major Syaed Salauddin Mahmud, acting commanding officer of Rab-2 said, a case was filed in this connection and the arrested were handed over to the police.
