Theatre troupe Mahakal will stage the 4th show of its new production ‘Srabon Tragedy’, based on the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, today at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.
The drama is patronised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and different government and non-government organisations to pay tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Written by Anan Zaman, associate professor of Jahangirnagar University’s Drama and Dramatics Department, the play is directed and planned by Ashique Rahman Leon, assistant professor of Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University.
Mahakal brought its 40th theatre production ‘Srabon Tragedy’ on stage in this year’s August, the month of mourning as a mournful narration of the tragic death of the Father of the Nation and the history to the new generation.
‘Srabon Tragedy’, a research-based performance, is the depiction of the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members while the play focuses on Bangabandhu’s participation in different movements. A total of 40 artistes performs in the drama in the different roles.
The first show of the play ‘Srabon Tragedy’ was staged on August 12 this year.
