Kayes hits a welcome 50 for Green XI

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Green made 177 for six against its Red counterparts on the close of the Day-1 of the four-day match at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna yesterday.

BCB Green chose to bat first after winning the toss on Khulna’s surface and first lost Shadman Islam Anik by Al Amin Junior. The Green then mislaid Zakir Hossain cheaply. After the fall of Anik, who fell for seven and Zakir, got out for 13, BCB Red captain Imrul Kayes attempted to steady the innings with Fazle Mahmud Rabbi but Al Amin Junior unsettled the partnership. They struck 38 runs before breaking the third-wicket stand.

Therefore, Imrul completed his fifty and surpassed the total of 100-run mark but Red slumped to 119-5 from 115-4 after losing Mizanur Rahman (15) and Kayes in the space of five runs. The experienced opener clattered 58 from 93 balls that littered with three sixes and five fours.

Al Amin improved his tally when he got rid of Tanvir Haider (17). Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan was at stumps on 28 with Mehedi Hasan batting on 16.

Al Amin Junior was the most successful bowler, who chipped in with 10-5-13-3. Taskin Ahmed, Iftekhar Sajjad and Jubair Hossain picked up one wicket each for BCB Red.
