Back in 1984, a talent hunt contest titled ‘Natun Mukher Sondhane’ (In search of new face) was organised for the first time in the country to discover new artistes for the film industry. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) found out noted artistes like Manna, Parveen Sultana Diti, Misha Sawdagar, Rasheda Chowdhury, Amin Khan and Shohel Chowdhury through the contest.
After a long hiatus of 27 years, ‘Natun Mukher Sondhane’ is set to kick off today once again with an aiming to find out new hero, heroine, comedian, child artiste and villain for the film industry. A launching ceremony of the contest will take place today at 6:55pm at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital.
DhakaLive has news that the programme will begin with four special applicants as Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and State Minister for Information Tarana Halim will attend the ceremony and apply symbolically for the contest.
On the other hand, audience-admired artiste duo Ferdous and Purnima is going to perform in the cultural segment of the launching ceremony. Choreographed by Tanjil Alam, the duo will perform dance with the excerpts of popular songs from different films.
The artiste duo said that they are participating at the programme in order to motivate the new artistes and welcome them to the big screen.
Ferdous said, “When the programme organiser asked Purnima and me to perform in the programme, we agreed instantly. Because, we will be doing this to encourage and motivate the new artistes as it is our duty. We have to help them to grow up properly.”
Purnima said, “‘Natun Mukher Sondhane’ discovered and created a lot of artistes earlier. I hope that we will have many new talents in the industry after the contest this time.”
To note, BFDC organised ‘Natun Mukher Sondhane’ three more times earlier.
