Police in a drive arrested seven local activists and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from Namazpur area in sadar upazila yesterdayafternoon.
The arrestees are Sajib Hossain Zahid, 22, Sohag, 24, of Namazpur village in  sadar upazila, Nakib Nosrullah, 19, of Alakathi of  sadar upazila, Ismail Mollah, 23, of Singkhali under Mathbaria upazila, Shameem Hasan, 26, of Boibunia under Bhandaria upazila, Al Masud, 18, of Gouripur under Bhandaria upazila, Rakibul Hasan, 22, of Faloybunia in Kawkhali upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team police raided a home at Namazpur village at about 4 pm and arrested them while they were holding a clandestine meeting in the house. During the raid police recovered some Jihadi books and leaflets, said Syed Enayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Pirojpur police.
Jaber Hasan, president of Pirojpur district unit Shibir, said they gathered there to discuss about Eid-ul-Azha celebration.
