Security beefed
up in Khulna

KHULNA: Khulna metropolitan and district police authorities have taken up tight security measures for peaceful celebration of Eid-ul-Azha on September 25, reports BSS. The measures were taken at a meeting at Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) headquarters on Thursday with the city police chief Nibash Chandra Majhi in the chair. Senior police officers, including additional KMP commissioner Mahbub Hakim, chiefs of crime division, traffic division and detective police attended the meeting.
The meeting decided not to allow makeshift cattle markets except those approved by Khulna City Corporation (KCC).  The police will ensure security to buyers and sellers at the Zoragate cattle market and will not allow anyone to disturb traffic movement by setting up cattle market. To make the security effective, the police will set up a control room at the makeshift Zoragate cattle market in the city and will make coordination with the local lawmakers.
Special attention would be given to ensure security in and around the cattle market areas, where large amount money is transacted usually and miscreants get scope for mugging, pickpocketing and doping.  The KMP commissioner directed the officials to identify and take actions against muggers, pickpockets and doping gangs. As part of other security measures, the KMP would set up closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, spy sunglasses, and counterfeit currency (taka) detecting machines at the cattle markets.
