Tigers start Asia Cup preparation today

The training camp of the Bangladesh cricket team for the upcoming ACC Asia Cup-2018 will begin at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket in Mirpur today.

Following their reporting, the disciples of Steve Rhodes will take part in the fitness test and screening in the morning session (9am-12am). Thereafter, they will hold skills and fielding training in the evening session (1:45pm-4:00pm) on the opening day.

Barring ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad, all the members of the Bangladesh preliminary squad will join the first day training camp. Riyad among them could not join the training camp as he is now busy in CPL stint, slatted to back home on September 7.  And, Shakib-who went to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, is scheduled to join the ongoing training session two days after the outset of the camp on August 29.  

Head coach Steve Rhodes and fielding consultant Ryan Lyall Cook among the coaching staffs are scheduled to land here Dhaka from United Kingdom (UK) to join the first practice session today (Sunday).

The rest of the coaching staffs including batting consultant Neil McKenzie and spin-bowling coach Sunil Joshi will come here in Bangladesh before the skills training which will be started on September 2.

The 11-day training camp will conclude on September 6. The Tigers squad for Asia Cup will announce in this period.

Bangladesh will fly to United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 9, six days before the Asia Cup. They will play two practice matches against local teams after landing in UAE.

The Tigers will launch their Asia Cup campaign against fifth-time Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 15.
