in road accident

RAJSHAHI: Three members of a family were killed and another injured as a truck hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Khorkhori bypass area in city yesterday, reports UNB. The deceased were Ibrahim, a resident of Kukhondi Sonarpara area in the city, his wife Bpbita, 40, and their daughter Raima, 03,. Mahabub Alam, station officer of Rajshahi University fire service, said the accident took place in the area around 12:30pm when the truck hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving the mother and the daughter dead on the spot and two others injured.
On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. Later, the injured were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where Ibrahim succumbed to his injuries. Humayun Kabir, officer-in-charge of Motihar police station, said they seized the truck from the spot but the driver and helper managed to flee away.
Staff Reporter adds from Barisal:  At least 40 people were injured in a road accident in Dapdapia area of the city yesterday morning. Of the injured, 29 were admitted to the Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH).
Police, witness and passenger source said that the accident took place when driver of the Barisal-bound bus ‘Hasan-Hasi Paribahan’ lost control over the steering in Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Bridge area around 8.45am yesterday and slammed the boundary wall of a textile mill.
Local people, fire bridged, and police rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers and sent them to the SBMCH.
Driver and the other staff of the bus managed to flee the spot. Police seized the bus. No case filed in this connection till filing the report.
