Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha abroad. This would be the first time that Hasina and Khaleda are going to celebrate Eid with their family members respectively in the USA and UK. Sheikh Hasina, also the president of the ruling Awami League (AL), is scheduled to fly to the USA on September 23 to join the United Nations General Assembly. The premier will also receive the UN award “Champion of the Earth,” on September 27 for her role in tackling climate change. Party sources said the AL chief would celebrate the Eid with her family members and relatives living in the USA. On the other hand, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has already reached London in a two-week tour for her health check up. During this period, she will also celebrate Eid with all her family members. The former premier met all her family members, including her elder son Tarique Rahman, for the first time in London after the demise of her younger son Arafat Rahman Koko. Khaleda is now in London with her son, daughter-in-laws, grand-daughters and other relatives. According to sources at the AL and BNP, both Hasina and Khaleda are expected to return home on October 1.
