Injury shatters Taskin’s hopes of playing Test

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed’s desire to prepare him for the Test cricket received a massive setback after the old side strain problem ruled him out of the India tour.
The teen-age speedster was supposed to prove his credential in the longer version, playing the two-match three-dayer series in India with the Bangladesh-A team alongside the limited over cricket but all hopes were shattered as he was unable to take the field further after his five overs spell.
The series was a golden opportunity for the injury-prone fast bowler to enforce his case stronger for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
“I hoped I would prove my credential for the longer version format, playing well in the series but the dream was shattered,” said the youngster who returned home yesterday. “I am really disappointed. Perhaps the luck is not with me,” said the demoralised bowler who once said he couldn’t be complete bowler unless he can play in all three formats of cricket. Before leaving the ground, Taskin took one wicket conceding 46 runs in his five overs in the first one-day in which Bangladesh-A suffered a 96-run defeat to their Indian counterpart. It was the old problem which sidelined him during India national team’s Bangladesh tour in June.
