Two shows of the play titled ‘Srabon Tragedy’, based on the tragic assassination of Bangabandhu, were held on Monday and Tuesday at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.
Prominent theatre troupe Mahakal brought the play as its 40th theatre production on stage in the month of mourning as a mournful narration of the tragic death of the Father of the Nation and the history to the new generation.
The inaugural ceremony and first show of the play took place at the National Theatre Hall of BSA on Monday, while the second show of the play was staged yesterday at the same venue.
Patronised by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, different government and non-government organisations paid tribute to the Father of the Nation through the play.
Written by associate professor of Jahangirnagar University’s Drama and Dramatics Department Anan Zaman, the play is directed by assistant professor Ashiq Rahman Leeon of Department of Theatre and Performance Studies of Dhaka University.
About 40 artistes have played different roles in the play.
To note, it took almost 10 months to review the manuscript of the play ‘Srabon Tragedy’ through study while the troupe has continued their rehearsal for one and half months.
