Sylhet JCD leader killed in factional clash

SYLHET: A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was killed and two activists injured in a factional clash in Kumarpara area of the city on Saturday night, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Foyjur Rahman Raju, 26, son of Fazar Ali of Shahpur village in Rajnagar upazila of Moulvibazar district and former vice-secretary for publicity of JCD city unit. He was a student of Sylhet Law College.

Leaders and activists of JCD started to gather in front of the residence of newly elected Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury around7pm.

Two groups of the student wing of BNP locked into a clash in front of the house, said sub-inspector Faruk Ahmed, in-charge of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Police Camp.

The clash left three including Raju injured. Among the injured, Raju succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around11pm, said
