Largest ever portrait of Bangabandhu to be drawn

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Paying tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and make his great personality visible to the generation, Bangladesh Chorushilpi Sangsad has taken an initiative to draw the largest ever portrait of Bangabandhu. With the height of 43 feet, which is equivalent to a four-storey building, the portrait will be installed at the Milon Chattar of TSC, Dhaka University.

More than 150 painters are taking part in this work. The technical work such as selecting a picture, preparing the layout and canvas have already been started from August 1. At present, the line drawing on canvas has started in TSC auditorium and Swimming Pool Chattar.

The height of the portrait has been set according to the 43th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation.  The main picture will be drawn in acrylic colours on the canvas. Many artists will draw different parts of the portrait in different frames. Then, putting the frames together, the main full size portrait will be set. The work will be completed tomorrow evening at TSC.

To disclose information about the initiative, a press conference was held on the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises yesterday, where Bangladesh Charushilpi Sangsad president Jamal Ahmed, vice president Nazma Akhter, general secretary Kamal Pasha, among others, were present.

Jamal Ahmed said, “Artists of Bangladesh are creating great artistic work with their own talent, labour and creativity. They are bringing pride and respect for the country. This painting will be a valuable property of the country.”
