‘Youth need safe spaces for their proper grooming’

RAJSHAHI: Members of the civil society and development activists here unequivocally called for ensuring safe spaces for youths for their proper physical and mental grooming so that they could be transformed into worthy citizens for betterment of the society, reports BSS.

They observed leadership and capacity development among youths in general is very vital for making them social contributors. Youth need safe spaces where they can come together, engage in activities related to their diverse needs and interests, participate in decision making processes and freely express themselves to attain the cherished goal.

They made this observation while addressing a post-rally discussion at Rangdhanu Community Center at Luxmipur Bhatapara area in the city today.

The Hunger Project-Bangladesh (THPB) organized the programme in partnership with British Council to mark the celebration of International Youth Day- 2018. Promoting Democratic Inclusion and Governance through Youth (PRODIGY) supported the programme. ‘Safe Spaces for Youth’ was the main theme of the day.

The discussants unanimously, said engagement and participation of youth is essential to achieve sustainable human development for both rural and urban improvement.
