Ex-CJ Sinha
takes money to
speak against
govt, says Joy

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and PM’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy yesterday alleged that former Chief Justice SK Sinha has received a large sum of money from war criminal Mir Quasem Ali’s brother to speak against the government as part of a conspiracy. In a Facebook post made yesterday, Joy also hinted that influential figures like SK Sinha and Shahidul Alam are the ones who carry out conspiracies to topple the government, which are all too common in our country.

“I have received some disturbing information. Disgraced former Chief Justice Sinha was in New York recently. There he met privately with war criminal Mir Qasem’s brother Mamun. Mamun handed Sinha a large amount of cash. He is being paid to make statements against our Government. They were spotted doing this and their conversation overheard,” Joy wrote in his status. Joy also shared an opinion piece titled “Understanding political conspiracies” by Ashikur Rahman, an economist, that portrays the complications faced by those in power while dealing with any conspiracy. Ashikur, in his write-up, explores a hypothetical scenario centring around Aug 15, 1975 assassination of Bangabandhu, his family and senior AL leadership, and discusses the likely challenges Bangabandhu would have faced had he discovered the coup plot beforehand and taken action against the conspirators.

“Unfortunately political conspiracies are all too common in our country. This is a very good article on how our “evil society” would have reacted if the August 15th conspiracy had been uncovered beforehand,” Joy wrote. “Someone unknown is no use in a conspiracy. It takes someone high up and powerful to make a conspiracy succeed. People such as Sinha and Shahidul Alam,” he said.
