Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) yesterday formed a human chain on the campus demanding the implementations of government’s decisions to ensure the safe highway.
They also condemned the violence during the movement for safe highway by some miscreants and urged the government to take action against the miscreants.
About at 10.30 am, over 50 teachers of different departments formed the human chain on the Central Shaheed Minar premises. Speakers at the programme urged the government for taking necessary steps to insure safe roads for the mass people.
Professor of JU Economics department Anu Muhammad said, “Teens took to the streets in the capital for safe roads. Though the government had taken some steps to meet their demands, they were not going back as the certainty of implementation of promise is very less in our country’. He also denounced the attack on noted photo journalist Shahidul Alam and other journalists. Vice President of JUTA Professor Rahseda Akhter said, “Though the government enacts legislations, its’ enforcement is not done properly. We urged the government to take care of the enforcement’.
Conducted by JUTA Secretary Prof Bashir Ahmed, Prof Shamsul Alam Selim, Prof Atikur Rahman, Prof Alamgir Kabir, Prof Kamrul Ahsan and Associate Professor Jebunnesa addressed the programme, among others.
