Rajshahi: Journalists and media people in the town formed a human chain in Sahebbazar area yesterday morning protesting the recent attacks their fellow colleagues and students in the capital, reports UNB.

Rajshahi Press Club and Janoneta Ataur Rahman Smriti Parishad jointly organised the programme with participation of the district correspondents of different newspapers, television and radio channels and online media around 11 am.

The speakers who attended the human chain said if the real news published in the mainstream media, rumors and propaganda could not spread. But during the students’ movement, the journalist could not work properly and eventually rumours blowout, they added. They also expressed their concern over the attack on journalists and urged the concerned authorities to immediately arrest those involved in it.

The speakers also claimed that these kinds of attacks would intensify the distance between public and government.

Janoneta Ataur Rahman Smriti Parishad General Secretary Saidur Rahman presided over the meeting.
