Husband, father-in-law to die for killing woman in Satkhira
Satkhira: A court on Tuesday sentenced a man and his father to death for killing his wife over a family feud at Chanduria village of Kolaroa upazila in the district during 2017, reports UNB.
The convicts were identified as Omar Ali Gazi, 35, and his father Din Mohammad Gazi, 55, of Chanduria village in Kolaroa upazila. Satkhira District and Session Judge Court Judge Sadikul Islam passed the order.
According to the case statement, the victim Amena Khatun went missing on January 6 in 2017. After three days, victim’s body was found in Icchamati River, strangled to death.
Victim’s family filed a case against five people including Omar and his parents in this regard with Kolaroa Police Station on January 10.
Sailor dies after falling from roof in Munshiganj
Munshiganj: A sailor was killed as he fell from the roof of his vessel on Shitalakshya River at Charmukterpur area of the district on Tuesday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 45, son of late Badiul Alam of Chattogram district.
Mukterpur Naval police outpost in-charge Abdul Hasim said Alamgir fell down from the MV Kafela-2 around 9am, leaving him dead on the spot as there were no goods on deck. An unnatural death case was filed with Munshiganj Police Station in this connection, the in-charge added.
Four jailed for taking drugs

A mobile court in Sadar upazila on Tuesday sentenced four people to different jail terms on charge of possessing drugs.
The Department of Narcotics Control and police conducted anti-drug drives in Palpara, Bakultala road at Puran Bazar, Ramdasdi and Modna villages.
During the drives, they arrested Amin Bepary, 27, Sharif Bepary, 30, residents of Palpara at Puran Bazar of the district town, Rasel, 29, of Kalukha Beparybari at Ramdasdi village and Halim Hawlader, 45, a resident of Modna village, along with drugs.
Later, they were produced before a mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman, which sentenced them to jail terms.
Of them, Rasel was jailed for one year, Halim for six months, and Sharif and Amin were jailed for 15 days each. In the afternoon, they were sent to jail.
