In the wake of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader's remark involving BNP and its secretary general with posting fake videos on social media on the student movement, BNP yesterday said Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir never opened any Facebook account.
"He (Fakhrul) has again reaffirmed that he never opened any Facebook account," said a BNP press release. The party said it issued several press releases over the last few years informing all that some people have opened several fake Facebook accounts in his name keeping him in the dark.
It also said Fakhrul sent a letter to the Facebook authorities in this regard. Earlier in the day, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader alleged that BNP and its collaborators are engaged in a conspiracy to topple the government cashing in on the non-political movement of students.
Referring to videos posted on Facebook spreading rumours about the rape of girls in the Awami League office, the ruling party leader said he has many reasons to believe that the BNP secretary general and his party were involved in posting these videos.
