Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football in October

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) finally announced a tentative schedule to organise the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Football Tournament to be held in October after a two year interval as last time it was held in 2016.

BFF despite maintaining the programme in their annual routine or in the four-year calendar but could not organise regularly the only international football tournament of the BFF.

The tournament was organised first time by the BFF after the name of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1996 when the committee of that time could also not maintain the regularity, as the second edition took place after three years interval 1996 and the third edition took over a decade to take place when it was held in 2015.

The fourth edition got its pick when the tournament was held at two venues, in Sylhet and at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in front of packed up gallery in both Sylhet and BNS and the BFF could comply with their routine organising the fourth edition very next year 2016.

But the BFF again failed to organise the prestigious and  popular tournament last year excusing the tight schedule of the AFC and FIFA competitions and the contrast with the schedule of the domestic competitions of the other countries, BFF usually interested to invite teams from abroad.

However, this time also BFF will saw a hectic schedule this season, specially, this year when the Bangladesh National Under-23 team will play the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia and thereafter the SAFF Championship (Bangladesh is host) will be held in Dhaka in September.

BFF targeting to organise the domestic competitions, the Bangladesh Premier League, Federation Cup and the Independence Cup without interruption decided to complete the SAFF and Bangabandhu Gold Cup tournament before to begin all their routine works.

Meanwhile, in a meeting of the BFF executive committee held on Thursday, when the senior vice-president of BFF Abdus Salam Murshedi informed the reporters all at the BFF House.
