Plainclothes police arrested former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury and six other leaders and activists from a house in Wireless Murgi Farm area of Chattogram city yesterday afternoon on charges of sabotage, reports UNB. Local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami claimed that a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police raided the house around 12pm and arrested Shahjahan along with the party activists. They said that Shahjahan went to the house of the former ward councilor and Jamaat leader Mahfuzur Rahman at his invitation.
Amena Begum, additional Commissioner (Crime and Drive) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) said Shahjahan is an accused in several sabotage cases.
