Ctg woman found dead
The body of a woman was recovered from her house at Faridarpar area under Chandgaon Police Station in the city in Chattogram on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rahima, 35, wife of former Cultural Secretary of Chittagong Lawyers’ Association Ehtashamul Parvez of the area.
Ehtashamul Parvez said he found Rahima’s body tied with rope inside his room around 3pm and informed police. Officer-in-Charge of Chandgaon Police Station Abul Bashar said Rahima might have been killed by suffocation. “Investigation is on to find out whoever is behind the killing.”
AL programmes on Mourning Day
The Rangpur city unit of Awami League (AL) has finalised programmes to observe the National Mourning Day- 2018 and 43rd martyrdom anniversary of Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
The programmes were adopted after elaborate discussions at a preparatory meeting held at city AL office in Betpotti area here on Wednesday night.
President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi presided over the meeting moderated by its General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal. Vice-presidents of city AL Idris Ali and Shah Md Nabiullah Panna, General Secretary of district Swechchasebak League Ramjan Ali Tuhin and President of city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League Shafiur Rahman Swadhin, among others, addressed.
Journo Sanjoy Mohajon dies
CHATTOGRAM: Senior Sub-Editor of the Daily Purbodesh Sanjoy Mohajon Kollol died on Wednesday afternoon at the age of 43. He left behind his mother, wife, a son, a daughter, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The untimely death of Kollol cast a pall of gloom in the area of journalist’s community. Kollol fell sick while returning to his home from his work place the daily Purbodesh on July 28 and admitted to a private hospital.
He was shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Tuesday morning where he died around 2:30 pm. Sanjoy Mohajon Kollol also worked in the Daily Purbokone, Suprovat Bangladesh and the daily Kaler Konto.
Meanwhile, president of Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) Nazim Uddin Shyamol and General Secretary (GS) Hasan Ferdouse, Chittagong Press Club president Kalim Sarwar and GS Shuklal Das, in separate messages expressed deep condolence at the death of Kollol.
