President Abdul Hamid on Wednesday urged the media to play responsible role in preventing misuse of technology. He said this while holding a meeting with the executive committee of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) at Bangabhaban, reports UNB.
“The media of Bangladesh is gradually flourishing. So journalists will have to be more responsible,” President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin quoted the President as saying.
The head of the state said “Technology is now a part of our daily life. Proper use of technology in the media has to be ensured and you will have to come forward to prevent its misuse.”
DRU President SaifulIslam apprised Abdul Hamid of overall activities of the organisation and the measures taken for the wellbeing of the journalist community. The journalist leaders sought the cooperation from the President over the different activities of their organisation.
Abdul Hamid appreciated different activities of the DRU and called the journalist representatives to take more effective measures for enhancing professional skill of the journalists.
General Secretary of the organisation Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, organising secretary Nurul Islam Hasib and many others were present in the meeting. Earlier, a 10-member delegate of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra (A center for women journalists of Bangladesh) led by its President Nasimun Ara Haque met with President Abdul Hamid on the same day.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB “Women journalists informed their challenges and discrimination they face in their workplace. They also sought the cooperation for ending discrimination.” The President said that journalists, especially women journalists are playing the very important role in women empowering. He urged to inspire the young generation to engage with the journalism profession in establishing the women empowerment.
