Drivers responsible will be punished, says Tofail

BHOLA: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said the bus drivers responsible for the road crash that killed two college students in the capital would face the music, reports BSS. “No compromise would be made in this regard… They will face exemplary punishment,” the minister said after the inauguration of the modern bus terminal in Charfashion upazila.

Criticising BNP’s political approach, Tofail Ahmed said they wants to do politics with everything including accidents as they don’t get any political issue.  “Politics should not be attached to road accidents,” he said. On the occasion, the commerce minister announced that Bhola-Charfashion-South Aicha regional highway would be upgraded into a four-lane highway soon.

The bus terminal has been built on three acres of land beside Bhola-Charfashion road at a cost of Tk 20 crore financed by the Charfashion municipality.  It is the largest terminal in the Southern region.

Speaking on the occasion, deputy minister for environment, forest and climate change Abdullah Al Islam Jakob said Bhola would be a prosperous district if Awami League (AL) is voted to power again.

Superintend of Police M Mokter Hossain, district AL joint secretary Zahirul Islam Nakib, Charfashion Upazila Parishad chairman Zoynal Abedin, municipality mayor Badal Krishna Debnath, among others, also spoke .
