Juba League man hacked to death

Mymensingh: A Juba League activist was hacked to death by the opponents at Akua Nazirbari area in the city yesterday afternoon, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Sheikh Azad of the same area and a member of the city Juba League Unit.

Sub-inspector Khandakar Shaker Ahmed of Kotwali Model Police Station said a group of unidentified miscreants swooped on him in the area and hacked him with sharp arms randomly around 3:00 pm, leaving critically injured.

Later, locals took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead. On information, police visited the spot and now additional police members were deployed in the area to avoid unwanted clash, the officer added.

Locals alleged, the attack took place in sequel to a longstanding enmity between local Juba League leaders Sheikh Azad and Sheikh Farid.

Police are trying to arrest the criminals who were involved in the killing, said Superintendent of Police Syed Nurul Islam.
