RANGPUR: Agriculture experts at an inaugural ceremony of a fair have stressed on adopting latest technologies to further boost production of fruits to ensure food security, meet nourishment and alleviate poverty, reports BSS.
They came up with the opinion at the inaugural ceremony of the five-day Fruit Tree Fair-2018 held on Gangachhara upazila parishad premises on Sunday.
The upazila Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and upazila administration have been jointly organising the fair to disseminate latest agriculture technologies for increasing production of fruits to meet nutrition of the growing population.
The government, non-government and private sector organisations, nursery owners, farmers have set up 25 stalls displaying fruit tree saplings, fruit-bearing trees, many varieties of fruits and fruit cultivation technologies on the fair ground. Gangachhara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Syeed Enamul Kabir inaugurated the fair by cutting g ribbon as the chief guest with Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Abdullah Al Mamun in the chair.
The speakers lauded the success already achieved in increasing fruit production and called for imparting training and providing latest technologies to the growers to enhance production of the local, indigenous and high yielding varieties fruits.
