Bangladesh’s key fighters- Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza- have been rewarded for their stellar performances that steered their side to a 2-1 series victory over the West Indies.
By dint of their jaw-dropping performance, left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal coupled with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza vaulted into the top-20 for the second time in their career in the MRF Tyres ICC ODI Players Rankings, which were released yesterday following the conclusion of the West Indies-Bangladesh and Zimbabwe-Pakistan series.
Tamim Iqbal scored two centuries in winnings causes to finish with 287 runs that reflected in the latest player rankings in which the left-handed stroke-maker jumped four places to a career-high 13th position. His previous best ranking was 15th.
Mashrafe not only led his side intelligently but also excelled with the white ball when he finished as the leading wicket-taker with seven wickets. He however earned a jump of eight places which put him back inside the top-20 in the 19th position.
Shakib, who finished with 190 runs in the series with two half-centuries, jumped three places to 26th, while Mahmudullah is in the 38th position after moving up four places.
In addition, the batsman, who took the spotlight in the latest rankings is Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman. The opener broke into the top-20 for the first time in his career with the scores of 515 runs in the recently concluded Zimbabwe-Pakistan series. He gained a total of 22 places to move into 16th position.
Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan retained the top spot in ODI all-rounder ranking with 362 points. Mohammed Nabi of Afghanistan occupied the second place with 323 points. Mohammed Hafeez of Pakistan trailing behind Nabi in third place with 322 points.
