Two days before of holding the city polls in three city corporations- Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barishal metropolitan city, a total of 44 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed yesterday. Of the 44 platoons paramilitary force, 15 platoons of BGB deployed in Rajshahi, 15 platoons in Barishal and 14 platoons in Sylhet as striking force. Alongside the BGB deployment, nearly 15,000 security personnel including the members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police have been deployed to control law and order situation during the election period.

Public relations officer of BGB Mohasin Reza said that more BGB personnel have been ready for deployment if needed. “The members of the paramilitary force will continue their patrol till July 31,” he said.

Our correspondents in three metropolitan city said that the BGB personnel have started their patrols to maintain the area’s law and order with a view to hold peaceful elections. The city corporation elections in three metropolitan cities-Rajshahi, Barisal, and Sylhet will be held on July 30.
