3-day national dance competition underway at Shilpakala

A three-day national dance competition is underway at the rehearsal room of National Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Bangladesh Nritya Shilpi Sangstha (BNSS) and BSA have jointly organised the nationwide solo and group dance competition.

The inaugural ceremony of the national dance competition held on Saturday, where BNSS president Minu Haq, general secretary Mahfuzur Rahman, renowned dancer-choreographer Laila Hasan, Amanul Haque, Doly Iqbal, Golam Mostafa and Zeenat Barkatullah were present.

Beginning from July 21 (Saturday), contestants from Dhaka division are taking part at the three-day competition. On the opening day, the participants presented Kathak dance, folk dance, Bharat and odyssey dance performances.

Yesterday, on the second day of the event, general group dances were performed by the contestants.

On the other hand, Kathak dance, folk dance, Bharat dance will be performed on the concluding day of the competition today.

The national level competition will be held from July 26 to 28, and the winners of the competition will be awarded on July 29.

Founded in 1978, BNSS is an organisation dedicated to overall benefit, nourishment of dancers and artistes in general. l
