Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chalked out a plan to involve former captain Khaled Mashud Pilot and spinner Mohammad Rafique with their exclusive High Performance (HP) training programme.
This will be the first time for the wicketkeeper-batsman, Pilot, with the board, while left-arm spinner Rafique earlier worked with HP.
The veteran duo will work at regular camp along with the special camp this time around. Even they will work with foreign coach or consultant when they (foreign coach or consultant) will come here to work with this need-based team, revived by the board to see its urgency for the development of the Bangladesh cricket.
In this regard, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they are involving Khaled Mashud Pilot and Mohammad Rafique with their High Performance (HP) Programme.
“We have decided to involve former captain Khaled Mashud Pilot and spinner Mohammad Rafique in High Performance (HP) programme,” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
“They will start working very soon with the HP team. They will work for the team on regular-basis beside the special training camp. Even they will work with foreign coach or consultant when they will come here to train the squad,” Chowdhury told The Independent.
The 42-year-old Pilot played 44 Tests for the Tigers coupled with 126 one-day internationals before his retirement from international cricket in 2007. He started coaching at domestic level including BPL, DPL, BCL and NCL after his retirement.
The 47-year-old spinner Rafique, by contrast, played so far 33 Tests along with 125 ODIs and one-off T20 International for Bangladesh.
He picked up 100-Test wickets with the best figures of 9/160, whereas he snapped up 125 wickets from the identical number of matches along with a wicket from one-off international Twenty20. The spinner also involved in coaching at domestic circuit after quitting international cricket at the same year.
