Debidwar UZ chairman held over land forgery

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police yesterday arrested an upazila parishad chairman from Shantinagar area of the capital on charge of forgery of land documents, reports UNB.
The arrestee is Ruhul Amin, chairman of Debidwar upazila parishad in Cumilla district.
Briefing reporters at the CID headquarters in the afternoon, CID Special Super (Organised Crime) Mohammad Ullah said Ruhul Amin got 4.5 bighas of land under East Narsinghapur of Ashulia in Dhaka registered against his name in March last. The land is owned by Abdul Hakim. He allegedly called a sub-register's office representative to Westin hotel of Gulshan and registered the land showing another person as the land owner, Mohammad Ullah said.
When Hakim came to know that Ruhul Amin applied for mutation of the land, he filed a case with Ashulia Police Station on April 25. Later, the case was transferred to the CID on June 6. A serious crime squad of the CID arrested Ruhul as the allegation of document forgery against him was found to be true, the CID special super said. Replying to a query, he said the CID was trying to arrest the others involved in the forgery.
