Choppy weather in north Bay, adjoining coasts

The Met Office yesterday advised the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to hoist the local cautionary warning signal no. 3 as the sea has become choppy under squally winds. The stormy weather has been created by the well-marked low hanging over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas. All the fishing boats and trawlers working in the north Bay have been told to keep close to the coast and move with caution until further notice. They have also been asked not to venture into deep sea. According to Met Office sources, the well-marked low may further intensify into a depression.
