A report on the Barind Bahumukhi Development Authority Bill, 2018 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to bring the existing Barind authority into legal frame for conducting overall development of the Barind area under an act, reports BSS. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Agriculture Ministry Md Mokbul Hossen yesterday placed the report on the bill in the house with Jatiya Sangsad Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.

Describing the reason behind placing of the report on the bill, the Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman said the enactment of the law will help continue the development programme of the area including development of surface and underground water resource and use, quality irrigation, agriculture mechanisation, electrification of the irrigation equipments, seed production and supply, aquaculture production, crop diversification and tree plantation and conservation for balance environment.

On January 15, 1992, the government has formed the Barind Bahumukhi Development Authority through promulgating a resolution for development of the Barind and its adjacent area.

Another report adds: A report on Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Bill, 2018 Bill was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad with a view to ensure the supply of the all necessary inputs and equipments including fertilizer, irrigation, seed and ingredients and machineries for horticulture development at the farmers level. Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry Md Mokbul Hossain placed the report on the bill at the house with Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.
