Bangladesh-A aim competitive cricket

Bangladesh-A team will not take the tour in India as just a mere practice opportunity rather they aim to play a competitive brand of cricket and give the Indian counterpart a good run for money. “It’s a great opportunity for a lot of our young guys to get more experience. But also we want to continue the winning culture. Hopefully we’re in doing so. Some of these guys can take the confidence into the Australian series that is coming up shortly. We are not using it just as practice, we are there to play hard cricket and give India a good run for their money,” said Heath Streak who was appointed as the coach of Bangladesh-A team for this particular series. Bangladesh-A team will leave for India today and return home September 30.
“We all want to win every game. Everybody wants us to win because we have won the fours series’ prior to this,” the ‘A team’ captain Mominul Haque echoed the same sentiment, making  the fact clear that they would go all guns blazing. Both said the series would also be crucial to understand the condition of India since the World Twety20 will be played here in the next year.  “We are a good team that our opposition knows well. We have been playing good brand of cricket since last few months. All are in good shape. We’ve 10 players in the squad who have experience of playing in Test. So, we’ll try to play better cricket to win the series,” Mominul said.
Mominul downplayed the pressure stating, “No pressure and even if there is pressure you have to face that. If you can’t take pressure then its better not to play cricket. We won the last four series, we have to make this a habit. We can’t lose this habit. We are thinking that way.” About captaincy alongside batting, Mominul said, “In the last few days I haven’t thought about it. The way I enjoy my batting I will enjoy my captaincy. I might have to learn a few things as a captain.”
Heath Streak explained that victory against India in any format and in any level would be a huge accomplishment.  “Well, it’s very simple. We want to try and win every game and that’s our goal as the team I don’t think there is any team that wants to lose. We are going to go and try to win every game, not just practice and preparation. There is no better feeling for people than winning, especially against such a big country like India. Any victory will be a huge achievement for us,” the Zimbabwean who is also the fast bowling coach of Bangladesh pointed out.
He however understood that the bowlers are going to face a tough challenge because the Indian wicket is traditionally flat and batting-friendly.  “I think it’ll be a big challenge. We’ve seen Indian wickets are flat, batsmen-friendly wickets. I think it’ll particularly be a challenge for our bowlers. Hopefully it’s good preparation and expose for our guys ahead of the T20 World Cup next year,” he informed. He however is happy to be the part of  ‘A team’.  Sarwar Imran however is supposed to be the coach of ‘A team’ but the BCB at the last moment decided to send Streak as a coach considering the fact that he would get the opportunity to prepare the players for the upcoming Test series against Australia.
