SYLHET: Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, MP, yesterday said the people of the country are in favour of development and they will reject the corrupt politicians during polls, reports BSS.
“The people of Khulna and Gazipur cities rejected the corrupt politicians in city corporation polls and they will also reject such politicians in the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation election,” he said, addressing an extended meeting of Sylhet district and city units of Awami League at Dakkhin Surma. AL Organising Secretaries Ahmad Hossain and Advocate Misbah Uddin Siraj addressed the meeting as special guests with AL district unit President and Zilla Parishad Chairman Advocate Luthfur Rahman in the chair. Hanif said there is no apprehension regarding the city polls as the leaders and activists of AL are more united now. He said, “We will win in the city polls as well as in the upcoming general elections under the dynamic leadership of PM Sheikh Hasina.”
AL city unit President and Sylhet City Corporation candidate Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, Vice President Gazi Jafar Sadeq Koyes, lawmaker Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, former lawmaker Jebunneccha Haque, among others, addressed the meeting.
